Nottingham Panthers make a heartwarming gesture by retiring Adam Johnson's number
The Nottingham Panthers of the EIHL have made an announcement stating that they will retire jersey #47, the number Adam Johnson wore before tragically passing away.
Following the tragic passing of Adam Johnson, a member of the Nottingham Panthers organization has announced that they will be retiring his #47 on December 14th before their matchup against the Fife Flyers.
Johnson tragically lost his life after taking a skate blade to the neck by Matt Petgrave in a complete freak accident. Despite the efforts of the medical staff that were on site, Johnson's life could not be saved.
Over a year later, the death of Johnson is still being talked about, as many leagues across the world have made it mandatory for players wear neck protection, with hopes that this will never happen again.
Truly a beautiful gesture for the Panthers to honour Adam Johnson.
