Rangers rivals: Flyers forward Garnet Hathaway fined by the NHL Player Safety for dirty elbow
New York Rangers rivals received some further disciplinary actions from the NHL Department of Player Safety.
Philadelphia Flyers forward Garnet Hathaway has received further discipline from the NHL Department of Player Safety after throwing a dirty elbow on Joel Eriksson Ek of the Minnesota Wild.
The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has decided to step up and punish Garnet Hathaway of the Philadelphia Flyers. Hathaway has been punished for an incident that involved Joel Eriksson Ek of the Minnesota Wild, that his teammate Marcus Foligno believed was a cheap shot.
Foligno says «it's bullshit» refs took Zuccarello to box late in third without an extra Flyer and negated power play. Also said Hathaway's antics with Eriksson Ek all game is «what he has to do to stay relevant in this league.»
Garnet Hathaway threw this elbow with just minutes left in the game, and caused an intense scrum to break out between the Minnesota Wild and Philadelphia Flyers.

Despite the incident being hard to see, the NHL Department of Player Safety has decided that to warrant Garnet Hathaway a fine of $5000 for the Elbow of Joel Eriksson Ek.
Philadelphia's Garnet Hathaway has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for elbowing Minnesota's Joel Eriksson Ek.
