According to the Spittin Chiclets, it appears the team is preparing to send Jonathan Marchessault to unrestricted free agency due to cap issues.
The 33-year-old right winger who has been with the Vegas golden Knights since 2017 after he was selected in the expansion draft has had his best season in goal scoring with 42 this year.
He also set the record for most goals scored by a golden knight as he has played 81 games column scoring 42 goals with 27 assists for 69 points and had forty penalty minutes.
It's safe to say that President George McPhee and general manager Kelly McCrimmon will have their work cut out for them next year as they currently sit at a roster size of 18 and only have $1.6 million in cap space.
The golden Knights have made decisions regarding Noah Hanifin who will be on a new deal that will hold a cap hit of $7.35 million AAV till 2031-32.
They also acquired Tomas Hertl from the San Jose Sharks who holds a cap hit of $6.75 million AAV and has a contract that stretches till 2029-30.
To say they're in cap hell is an understatement and with so many players on their roster, expect major trades to be happening possibly during the draft and during the offseason as the team continues to juggle their caps situation while continuing to eye other unrestricted free agents that may be coming on the market.
