Transaction: CCM to Private Equity Firm, Hockey World shocked
After buying CCM Hockey from it's parent company, Adidas for $110 Million dollars, current owner and private equity firm Birch Hill Partners will be selling the brand.
They are in talks to close a sale for a value of $570 Million dollars for the major hockey manufacturer.
The sale could end up having a major ripple effect in the sport of hockey. Mordor Intelligence lists CCM, as one of the major players in equipment manufacturing, along with Bauer and True Temper in the sport.
The total market cap for the equipment industry was $1.91 million, while Mordor projects it to balloon to $2.43 Billion by 2028.
The sales opens the door for investors to buy into the expanding market.
This could mean price increases for NHL players and a potential to drive merchandise costs up.
There's no confirmation of the sale just yet, but keep a look out as the story develops.
