This is why they should look to the Pacific Division to find their next top-six forward, and 75-point scorer--Nazeem Kadri.
Kadri has been a fixture in the Flames lineup for the last two seasons, brought into the Flames lineup along with Jonathan Huberdeau, by GM Brad Treliving. However, with his exit and GM Craig Conroy taking the reigns, Kadri's time in Calgary may soon be at an end.
Since Conroy has pledged to rebuild the Flames from the ground up, it has caused Kadri to reassess his place in the Flames organization.
He has requested a trade out of Calgary recently:
This could be a boon for GM Chris Drury and the New York Rangers, who are a contender, and could be used to sell a landing spot like MSG to Kadri.
While Kadri may not have New York on his no-trade list, Drury before making the move will have to consider Kadri's $7M AAV cap hit, of which he has 5 years left on the contract.
He should add a third team in the trade, like Utah or Chicago in order to make sure he can find a way to get the assets to move for Kadri.
This would make trade easier for all sides and make sure Conroy gets assets in return for salary retention, should Conroy have to go that route.
Kadri is a 75-point forward, a former Stanley Cup Champion, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. He's perfect for Broadway.
