Former Rangers forward & Stanley Cup Champion will officially return to the NHL
Former 2nd overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and former New York Ranger will officially have his number retired.
39-year old forward will have his jersey number retired with the organization where his career started.
Earlier today the Carolina Hurricanes announced that they would be honouring Eric Staal by retiring his number 12, during the 2024-25 season. After all Staal has made a huge impact on with the Carolina Hurricanes and deserves to be honoured.
No Hurricane will ever wear No. 12 again
During Staal's 18 season in the National Hockey League, which included 1365 games, he managed to put some very impressive numbers, with 455 goals and 608 assists for a total of 854 regular season points.
Staal was traded to the New York Rangers by the Hurricanes in 2016 for Aleksi Saarela, NY Rangers 2nd round pick (later traded to Chicago, and Chicago selected Artur Kayumov) in 2016 NHL Draft and also the NY Rangers 2nd round pick (Luke Martin) in 2017 NHL Draft.
However, Staal didn't have the greatest season with the Rangers has he only played 20 games that season and only managed 3 goals and 3 assists.
