The New York Rangers have received troubling news regarding rookie forward, as he's sidelined due to an injury.

As the New York Rangers hit the ice for their morning skate a noticeable player was missing, that player being rookie forward Brett Berard.

Brett Berard has been sidelined due to suffering an upper-body after taking a hard hit from Montreal Canadiens Kirby Dach on Saturday.

Berard upper body not skating. Took brutal hit from Dach on Saturday.

So with that being said, Brett Berard won't play for the New York Rangers as they face off against their divisional rivals, the New Jersey Devils, and Reilly Smith is likely to slot in.

News like this is never good for a rookie, and especially for the New York Rangers as they just managed to break their five-game losing streak.

Here's what the forward pairings will look like considering Berard is now out:

Panarin - Chytil - Laf
Cuylle - Trocheck - Kakko
Kreider - Zib - Smith
Edstrom - Carrick - Brodzinski

Throughtout the four games the 22-year old forward has played he has managed to tally two points, one goal and one assist.

Hopefully the youngster is not sidelined for long and can return to the Rangers lineups soon.
