It's been revealed that a new Atlantic division team has entered trade talks with the New York Rangers with regards to Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba.

According to Robert Hicks an NHL insider, the Sabres and the Rangers have had meaningful talks and making solid progress in making a trade for the beleaguered defenseman. It seems that Trouba is more open to the idea of moving to Buffalo rather than The Motor City.

These talks along with a blocked trade with Detroit that occurred earlier last week has shown that general manager Chris Drury is willing to make major changes to his lineup while opening cap space to help acquire new talent as he fortifies his team.

The Rangers are caps trapped and Trouba holds an $8 million cap hit for the next two seasons which has prompted the idea of trading him.

Even though the Sabres have not made the playoffs for many years, it appears the team is starting to make noise in acquiring better talent which could include Trouba. Currently the team has 20 contracts signed and has over $14 million in cap space which could be accommodated for Trouba Without any salary retention.

One key area the Rangers would like to upgrade is their offence especially on their top six and to do so they need to have more cash to which moving Trouba makes sense.

It appears this will be news for some time as trade talks continue to swirl between the two teams.
