However, many fans are furious as he hasn't really done anything to help the Rangers become Stanley Cup Finalists next season.
He watched all the free agents slip off the board in front of him, while not making any trades, either. Well, one of the top remaining players went off the board today.
Forward Daniel Sprong, 27 years old, signed with the Vancouver Canucks today to a one-year deal worth just under a million dollars at $975,000.
The 27-year-old is coming off a good year. Sprong had 18 goals and 25 assists, tallying up to 43 points in 76 games with the Detroit Red Wings. Sprong had a breakout year in Seattle the season before, having 46 points in 66 games.
Daniel kept that pace up, and it's surprising he was only paid $975,000. And at a one-year deal, especially for Vancouver who is kind of struggling with the cap, it's a great deal for them.
New York could've really benefited from this, getting a solid 40+ point guy the last two years with the cap space they have.
It's a shame Drury didn't go out and get him, but you can say the same with a lot of other things this off-season.
