Critical Contract Negotiation Update shared by Igor Shesterkin's Camp
The New York Rangers goalie, Igor Shesterkin is one of the best players in his position and has been earning an AAV of less than $6 Million.
Shesterkin won the Vezina Trophy in 2022 and has proven to be a reliable net presence. This follows Henrik Lundqvist's tenure in New York and could become one of the highest-paid goalies in the NHL soon.
He has confirmed that talks between his camp and the New York Rangers have begun, though he instead is focusing on playing the 2024-2025 NHL season.
He remains confident his agent will handle the particulars:
"My agent, Maxim Moliver, is talking to the general manager," Shesterkin said. "I can't say anything else. For me, the most important thing now is preparing for the season and being 100% ready mentally and physically. An exciting season is ahead, and the agent will discuss the contract.
We have been working with Moliver for a long time. I came to America without knowing English, but Max lived in New York, so he could always go and help. It is very comfortable for us to work together. He does not have many clients, so he can pay much attention to me."
Shesterkin has played 119 games with the New York Rangers, and in 2023-2024 came in fourth in Vezina Trophy voting.
Shesterkin helped lead the Rangers to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2023-2024.
