EJ Emery Receives great endorsement from former Rangers defenseman

Former Rangers defenseman Matt Gilroy gave a great compliment for Rangers prospect EJ Emery when he spoke to the Forever Blueshirts Podcast.

Gilroy who had two stints with the Rangers in 2009 and then in 2012 was a coach for the United States national team development program. During his time there, he coached Emery and feels that he will have a bright future with the team and that the Rangers fans are going to love him.
«To be a kid at such a young age and be so driven and focused, it's pretty wild to see,» Gilroy explained in a phone conversation with Forever Blueshirts on Tuesday. «I think his strength is how he understands defense. It's such a hard skill to learn and he already understands it at a high, high level.
«He's going to a great program at North Dakota and he's only going to get better. I think he's just scratching the surface of what he's going to be as a player. To see him over the next few years is going to be very exciting. Rangers fans should be excited.»
Gilroy noted that Emery will be playing for the University of North Dakota and that he was drafted in the first round of the 2024 entry draft 30th overall.
According to eliteprospects.com, stands at six foot three, 185 lbs and is classified as a defensive defenseman along with being a Penalty kill specialist along with being a mobile defenseman.
During last years season, he had played 61 games, and had 16 assists the 61 penalty minutes and was a + 34.
«He'll be ready for Madison Square Garden and they're gonna love him.»

With the endorsement Gilroy gave him, Emery will have all the confidence in the world when he sets foot in Madison Square Garden.
