Elliotte Friedman issues bold statement regarding Matt Rempe's future following his 8-game suspension
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has made a bold statement regarding Matt Rempe's future in the NHL following his eight-game suspension for a dangerous hit on Miro Heiskanen.
Just last Friday, New York Rangers enforcer Matthew Rempe landed a controversial hit on Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen, which got him ejected from the game.
Saturday afternoon the NHL Department of Player Safety released an announcement, summoning Matt Rempe to an in-person hearing.
Then finally, on Sunday the NHL Player Safety announced that Rempe would serve an eight-game suspension for his dangerous hit on Heiskanen:
Following all this, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shared his opinion on the situation, saying he hopes Rempe will learn from his lessons.
Along with that, he went on to say he Rempe doesn't learn from his mistakes, he will keep getting suspended and potentially ruin his career in the NHL.
"In the old days, like, probably the 80s, that suspension would stop at seven [games] and you would have seen a day where the Dallas Stars were probably going to be allowed to get revenge on their own."
The 22-year old forward has now only played in 22 NHL career games, and has been ejected from four, along with tallying a whopping 95 penalty minutes.
Definitely something for Matt Rempe to consider. Cause if he doesn't change his ways he could very well jeopardize his NHL career.
