The Pittsburgh Penguins have excelled in one way this season, losing and their record is 3-3-0 and lost to the Carolina Hurricanes.

The devastating loss was 4-1, and the Penguin's performance was so poor that former Rangers coach, now Penguins coach Mike Sullivan called them out.

With a loss to the Hurricanes, a divisional rival for the team, and Sidney Crosby's lack of production you can't help but feel the frustration gushing through his words.

"We played on our end tonight," said an unhappy Sullivan.

"We probably played 3 games that don't live up to our expectations, let's just say it that way," said Sullivan. "We have to have higher expectations of ourselves."

The team is now 1-2-0 at home and is a bad look for Kyle Dubas, Mike Sullivan, and Sidney Crosby. They look like one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference this year, thanks to GM Kyle Dubas, but paper and reality are two different things in this case.

The team has some emerging stars and some veteran mainstays who should be producing regularly, but they haven't been playing up to par for the team this year.

One of those veterans is Lars Eller who was also unhappy with the Penguin's play against the Canes Friday night.

"There's so many things that need to be better," said Eller. "The attitude, the energy, the execution... we put ourselves in bad spots all the time. I hope we won't see another game like this."

"I think we did it to ourselves," said Eller. "I think our lack of energy, will, winning pucks, execution was all missing today."

While the roster has significantly improved for the Pittsburgh Penguins overall, it seems there's a lack of effort on the roster lately.

In a tough Eastern Conference where they'll be expected to beat the Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and within their own division the New York Rangers they'll have to figure out how to get out of this hole.

The Penguins in their last 6 games have given up a whopping 25 goals, and it shows there's a lack of structure in their play.

Namely, defensive as the Penguins have yet to let an opponent score less than three on them this year.

This doesn't bode well for Kyle Dubas, and Mike Sullivan.
