There's some bad news afoot for Patrick Kane, as the former New York Rangers sensation is beginning his second season with the Detroit Red Wings.

Things haven't been going well for the NHL superstar, who was thought to have returned to form by scoring 47 points in 51 games for the Red Wings last season.

Instead, Showtime has been demoted by Coach Derek Lalonde and the Red Wings, to the 2nd line.

The chemistry once celebrated by Kane, with former Blackhawks linemate Alex DeBrincat has diminished or worn off entirely. As DeBrincat remains on the top line where Kane once was.

It appears that Coach Lalonde is attempting to switch up the lines in order to find some sort of chemistry, as the top six haven't been running well in the Motor City.

The winged wheel seems to have been clipped, as the team is 4-3-0, and Kane has scored 5 points( 2 G, 3 A) and 3 power-play points in that frame.

Many NHL fans and pundits felt the Red Wings would continue the tear they were on last season, the team that fell short of a playoff run thanks to tiebreaker rules.

Now, instead, they'll have to start at square one and find what could kickstart the meager offense once again.

Kane felt it best to stick with the Red Wings, as he felt like it was the right spot to play in, considering much of his childhood was spent there. But at a $4 Million dollar cap hit, and a recent demotion this doesn't bode well for Kane or the Wings.

The superstar winger returned from hip-resurfacing surgery last season, to show everyone he wasn't down and out, and could still be the highlight-reel player we know him as.

He showed up at the United Center arena last season, with a slick OT goal against Petr Mrazek and the Hawks, setting the United Center on fire with his presence in February.

The question is, can he find the magic once again?
