Former No. 1 Pick Had A Good Month To Start The Season
The Rangers have had a great start to the season for the month of October.
Started with a 7-2 record, won the last five games, all on the road, and have handled business to keep themselves above the pack in the Metropolitan Division.
Someone who has helped steady the ship and contributed to a team needing some offense, is Alexis Lafrenière.
So far this season, Lafrenière has managed to do just that, scoring four goals in the Rangers' first nine games on a line with Artemi Panarin and Filip Chytil.
The former No. 1 pick is third on the team in goals scored with four, and second in even strength goals with three, something the team has needed desperately, as even strength has been the one of the worst aspects of the team.
The Rangers currently rank 29th in the league in 5-on-5.
Lafrenière is on pace for 40 plus goals, which will more than double his highest scoring season, when he scored 19 in he 2021-2022 season.
Is it a pace he can keep up? Only time will tell.
Frank Seravalli at Daily Faceoff, gives his opinions on if Lafrenière can keep up this pace for the rest of the season:
"Look, I think if you're a Rangers fan, you're super excited about what you've seen from Lafrenière to this point, certainly with the way that the preseason went. He's a guy that looked lost in the first couple weeks of training camp, and all of a sudden you're having to ask some bigger foundational questions about if Lafrenière doesn't get going, if Kakko doesn't get moving in the right direction, how can the Rangers try and find a way to fill out their bottom six and get some meaningful production from those guys? So to me, this is a really positive development for New York, but I think it's a little too early to say yet that he's completely arrived."
Let's see how Lafrenière does when he and the Rangers face off against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight, at Madison Square Garden.
