Adam Erne was brought to the New York Rangers on a PTO.

He considers this opportunity a dream come true, as he will get a shot to make his hometown team. While it seems like just a PTO to us, this is the big-time for Erne who played for the Oilers who made it to the Stanley Cup finals last season.
Erne grew up in Connecticut, as a diehard Rangers fan and is excited for the opportunity to compete for a spot.
«This is the closest I've been to home,» Erne said. «Feels a little bit more like home to me. Grew up a Rangers fan, so it's a pretty cool experience for me and my family. The guys have been great, coaches, staff, everythings been really good.»

He of course isn't in an ideal spot as the 29-year-old will have to outwork others to earn a spot on the Rangers lineup.
«I think every day just bringing my best,» Erne said. «I know it sounds a little cliche, but that's the truth. Being on a PTO, every day you are here is another good day. Just trying to bring my best each and every day.»

Erne has played eight seasons in the NHL for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings, and the Edmonton Oilers.
He sees a lot of similarities between the Rangers locker room and the Oilers team last year, which saw them make it to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Erne feels that there is a lot of confidence, but tempered with humility, as they too have aspirations to win a Stanley Cup.
«Both are pretty relaxed locker rooms,» Erne said. «I think there's a humble confidence, nothing is taken for granted for sure. I think everyone is eager to start the year and is ready to go.»

Erne has a shot to make the bottom six in New York, as Jimmy Vesey has just been injured.

While there's no confirmation of the duration of time he'll be out, and the severity of the injury. This could be Erne's chance to win a spot on the lineup, even if it's for a short period of time.

He will have to beat out Adam Sykora, and Brennan Othmann as others who are vying for a spot on the opening night lineup.

This could be a shot at living his dream and making the most of this limited opportunity.

Can an eight-year NHL veteran make it nine?
