He'd shape his new identity during his time with the New Jersey Devils and would crack the lineup again in New York.
He's been a staple since, but with limited roster spots, it seems like it was a given that Vesey would be a shoo-in for the Rangers 4th line spot.
However, during practice, it was reported by Remy Mastey of The Hockey News that Vesey would limp off the ice, during Rangers practice.
Head Coach Peter Laviolette would later address the media regarding Vesey's injury:
There's no confirmation of what lower-body injury that Vesey is suffering but this isn't good news for the Rangers.
But what this could lead to is more competition for a Vesey's spot while he's out of the lineup.
One player who could end up holding Vesey's spot is Adam Erne, who was signed by the Rangers during the offseason.
Erne spent the majority of the 2023-2024 season with the Oilers AHL affiliate the Bakersfield Condors. He'd play 36 games in the AHL, scoring 12 points( 6 G, 6 A) in 36 games, while playing 24 games in the NHL scoring 2 points( 1 G, 1 A) in 24 games.
He may not have the same production profile as Vesey but could be a good stopgap while Vesey is out with injury.
Vesey's production on the bottom six will be sorely missed as the season kicks into gear:
