The Rangers organization announced today that former Rangers prospect Maxim Barbashev has signed an AHL contract with the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The former fifth round pick of 2022 did not sign an entry level deal with the organization and was given a professional tryout contract at the end of April of this year with Rangers affiliate.

The 20-year-old left winger who stands at 6 foot one and 181 lbs played for two Quebec major junior Hockey League teams which were the Rimouski Oceanic and the Shawinigan Cataractes. He played a total of 59 games, scoring 14 goals with 21 assists for 35 points who had 28 penalty minutes.

It remains to be seen on whether this contract could translate to an NHL contract with the Rangers. But the team and organization is always looking for organizational depth and if he takes a step forward in his game it's likely he could be a call up for a future player who may be injured or could find himself earning a spot.
