New York Rangers to acquire Stanley Cup Champion: Last minute development
The Florida Panthers place top defenseman on the trade block immediately after winning the Stanley Cup.
Recent reports suggest that right after the Panthers won the Stanley Cup they placed defenseman, Aaron Ekblad on the trade block.
Reports claim the Panthers organization were exploring options for the defenseman even before the team celebrated their Stanley Cup parade.
The 28-year old, holds a cap hit of $7.5 million and is coming up to his final year of his contract next season.
However, his production has slowed down over the years, and many suggest that a change of scenery is what he needs, considering he's played his entire career with the Florida Panthers.
At the end of the day, Ekblad carries a $7.5 million cap hit, that not many teams could afford, including the New York Rangers, but if the Rangers were able to get rid of Trouba and clear up his $8 million cap hit.
