Claimed off waivers: Adam Boqvist's fate with the New York Rangers was just confirmed

The New York Rangers have been having a rough season, leaving GM Chris Drury to try and fill in some gaps by adding recently signing Will Borgen to a lengthy contract extension.

However, there are still gaps within the Rangers lineup and one player who could have added some depth to the lineup is former 8th overall pick, Adam Boqvist who was waived by the Panthers on Thursday, after only skating in 18 games for the team and posting 6 points( 2 G, 4 A).

Boqvist signed with the Panthers during free agency for one year and is only earning $775K.

However, recent reports have surfaced on Friday evening confirming Boqvist's fate with the Rangers. As NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Rangers divisional rivals, the New York Islanders have claimed the former 8th overall pick off the waiver wire.

Another missed opportunity from Chris Drury and the Rangers as they let a really affordable player slip away and sign with a different team. Someone who could have provided the team with some playoff experience.
