Former Rangers star releases shocking statement regarding Steven Stamkos
Former New York Rangers star releases a statement regarding Steven Stamkos leaving the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Martin St. Louis commends Steven Stamkos for leaving the Lightning and joining the Nashville Predators.
St. Louis who is the current head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, believes that Stamkos just made the best decision of his career by signing with the Predators, for a four-year contract worth $32 million on July 1st.
Martin St. Louis said he spoke to Steven Stamkos about leaving Tampa Bay following Stamkos signing in Nashville.
"He's going to look back on his career and I think he's going to be happy that he experienced something else."
Roughly about 10 years ago, St. Louis was relatively in the same situation has he was traded from the Lighting to the New York Rangers, however he requested the trade as Stamkos did not, because he wanted to remain in Tampa.
The General Manager of the Lightning, Julien Brisebois, revealed that he was unable to pay the contract that Stamkos wanted, as it wasn't apart of their long-term plan to get back to winning the Stanley Cup.
