The first month of hockey has ended for the Rangers yesterday in the 3-2 overtime win against the Winnipeg Jets.
The team is sitting pretty at first place in the Metropolitan Division.
For the fifth time in franchise history, the team has won seven of their first nine games.
That's despite playing seven of nine games on the road, with the Rangers going 6-1 in road games, and sweeping the five game West Coast trip.
The Rangers also boast the fourth highest goal differential in the league at +10.
The Rangers are second in the league in goals allowed per game, second in Power-play conversion percentage, and third in face-off wins percentage.
Individuals on the team are also just as impressive. Adam Fox is leaving his mark and making his case for his second Norris Trophy this season, leading all defensemen in points, power-play goals, power-play assists, and power-play points.
Artemi Panarin has also been on a tear, second in the league in points, and has recorded a point in every game so far this season.
The goalie duo of Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick have also been critical to the team's early success. Combined, these two have a .923 save percentage, two goals allowed per game average, and one shutout.
All this incredible individual, and team performance, as well as the great coaching leadership of Peter Laviolette, is why the team is 7-2 for the month of October, and among the top contenders in the league.
The Rangers will next play against the Carolina Hurricanes, Thursday, November 2nd, at Madison Square Garden.
