Ilya Sorokin unexpectedly takes a cheap shot at New York Rangers star goaltender Igor Shesterkin

The New York Rangers' Igor Shesterkin has been called out by the Islanders' goalie Ilya Sorokin today. This was after he scored his first goalie goal in the NHL against the Nashville Predators.
Well, it happened today. Ilya Sorokin scored his first goalie goal in the NHL, and it was against the Nashville Predators.
A dumpster-fire team of likes we haven't seen in the West in some time. Even with a star-studded lineup like Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault, and Roman Josi, they have failed to put together a good season. Not even Bono can save them now.
As Islanders goalie sealed the fate of the Barry Trotz-built squad with a goalie goal as Head Coach Andrew Brunette left the net empty near the end of the third period.
Sorokin would relish the opportunity and send the puck into the other team's crease for the killing blow.
To which Sorokin would quip
I knew I'd do it before Igor.
That is a shot against Shesty's bow, as he's yet to score a goalie goal during his entire career in the NHL that began in 2019.
Despite this, the New York Islanders are still a dumpster-diving team who have yet to pull themselves out of the bottom of the Metropolitan Division.
A fate both teams have shared, unfortunately.
Sorokin's goalie goal may be a small victory against his competitor, but it remains to be seen if we'll ever see the New York Islanders in the postseason again though.
The Islanders are 6th in the Metropolitan Division, with a record of 27-25-7.
