After Igor Shesterkin began to falter, quick stepped in and put on his season saving skill set and help keep the Rangers at the top of the Metro Division.
Forever blue shirts tweeted yesterday that they were in contact with Jonathan Quick's agent and had some very interesting thoughts to say about the 38-year-old netminder.
It's becoming clear that Quick is one of the best backups in the NHL now.
Through 19 games this season, his record has gone 12-4-2 and has a goal against average of 2.27 and a save percentage of .919 with two shutouts.
His strong play along with his experience of winning 2 Stanley cups with the Los Angeles Kings back in the 2010's gives that stability that the Rangers are looking for.
It seems that Shesterkin has regained his footing as the number one goalie, but it also helps him knowing he has a backup goalie that is serviceable and who can bridge the gap in the short term if he falls to injury.
The Rangers next game will be at home against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday February 15th.
Game time will be at 7:00 PM eastern.
