Last Time The Rangers Faced The Capitals Ended Spectacularly
The Washington Capitals clinched the Eastern Conference's second and final wild-card spot with Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers, setting up an opening series against the Presidents Trophy-winning Rangers.
It will be the 10th playoff meeting between the two rivals, with the Rangers winning five of the previous nine.
That includes the most recent in 2015, when the Rangers rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to win in seven games.
Check out the series clinching goal in overtime from Derek Stepan
As a Rangers fan, that is something I can watch everyday.
The Rangers are going to be heavy favorites in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Capitals this time around.
On paper, this series shouldn't be close.
But that doesn't mean the Rangers shouldn't take the Capitals seriously.
Ask the record breaking Bruins that last year against the lowly Florida Panthers.
If there's anything that describes the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it is very much, unpredictable.
