Peter Laviolette Addresses Media Prior To Igor Shesterkin Masterpiece
It was a goalie duel tonight and the good guy won.
Igor Shesterkin with his first shutout of the season for the 2-0 Rangers win over the Calgary Flames, extending their win streak to five game!
Shesterkin's shutout was the 12th of his career and seventh career shutout of at least 30 saves, tied with Mike Richter for the fourth most by a Rangers goaltender.
Peter Laviolette was asked if Igor Shesterkin's time away from starting was more about the physical or mental aspect of his game prior to the game against the Flames:
"I think sometimes, it's just good to get some work"
Shesterkin spoke to the media on his shutout performance.
"It was important night for me an important shutout. I appreciate what the guys did today. There was a lot of big block shots, smart plays."
This was Shesterkin's second win in a row, a sign of hopefully gearing up and getting to form ahead of the playoffs in a couple months!
