New York Rangers rookie enforcer Matt Rempe, gets called out by famous hockey icon.

New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe has made a name for himself since his NHL debut with his toughness and grit, the youngster is standing at 6'9 (the tallest player in the NHL since Zdeno Chara) and 241 pounds.

Rempe has recently been seen training with former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque on his fighting skills and techniques.

However, this has upset many fans and experts throughout the league, including one particular hockey icon, and former Hockey Night in Canada host, Don Cherry.

Cherry has decided to criticize Rempe on a recent episode of the "The Don Cherry's Grapevine Podcast".

"I don't think it's a good idea. The National Hockey League lets on that everything is spontaneous. You don't train to be a fighter. I don't think the NHL would be too happy. I think Rempe is setting himself up to be really suspended if he hurts somebody," he said.

Laraque also released a statement about a week ago regarding his on-ice training sessions with Rempe, and warned everyone to watch out for the Rangers youngster:

"I'm training Matt Rempe and Tyrel Bauer for hockey fighting, this week in Edmonton, at the Silent Ice arena. If you thought Rempe was a problem this year in the @NHL, wait till you see him this coming season 🔥🔥» Laraque shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In the 17 games that Rempe played in for the Rangers after being brought up from the American Hockey League, he scored a goal with an assist while also accumulating a total of 71 penalty minutes.
