Multiple teams emerge as frontrunners to acquire Rangers star forward
With the New York Rangers season at an end, a few teams have been showing high interest in the Finnish winger Kaapo Kakko.
There has been three frontrunners that have shown high interest in acquiring the 2nd overall pick Kaapo Kakko, among those teams are the Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks, and Anaheim Ducks.
Montreal Canadiens... With Kakko being 23 years old and having good upside, they are a clear team to watch when it comes to him.
San Jose Sharks... The Sharks must add impactful forwards to their roster to help [Macklin Celebrini's] development, and a young forward like Kakko could be a great fit because of it.
Anaheim Ducks... They have been connected to Kakko in the past, and he could be a good young forward for them to add to their core. Back in 2019, Kaapa Kakko and Jack Hughes were the two biggest prospects that gained a lot of attention. However after a few years, Hughes has become a superstar with New Jersey Devils while Kakko has been more on the struggling side with the Rangers.
This past season Kakko only managed to get 19 points in 61 games. In the playoffs, he performed even worse scoring only two points through 15 games for the Rangers.
With that being said a change of scenery for Kakko seems necessary, with three teams showing interest it might be the best move for the Rangers.
