Former New York Rangers defenseman Tony DeAngelo is now playing on Long Island. Last night, DeAngelo scored his first goal of the season, but instead of scoring it on the Minnesota Wild's Filip Gustavsson, it was his own goalie!

Tony DeAngelo recently signed a one-year deal with the New York Islanders, as GM Lou Lamiorello loves a discount.
DeAngelo has reeked of desperation since he left North America to play in the KHL with SKA St. Peterburg. While he was one of the top defensemen in the league this season, scoring 32 points (6 G, 26 A) in 34 games the NHL is a different story.
This season he's only played eight games with the New York Islanders, and his first goal of the year he scored against his own goalie, Ilya Sorokin.
This is the biggest mistake we've seen him make, after leaving the NHL in turmoil after the fallout from his situation with John Tortorella.
Note January 30th, 2021:
One year ago, on this date in 2021, defenseman Tony DeAngelo and goalie Alexandar Georgiev got into an altercation that led to DeAngelo's premature departure from the Rangers organization.

He's scored only 4 points (1 G, 3 A) with the Islanders, and has somehow found himself on the team's top-pairing.
This only continues his story of infamy across the hockey community as he's striven to be one of the best defensemen in the league.
Yet, he's only proven to be capable of playing a primarily offensive role for any team he's suited up for.
That is when he's not agitating his teammates or coaches as he did in Philadelphia with John Tortorella.
It's a good thing GM Lamiorello is paying DeAngelo league minimum this season, or else that'd be one expensive goal for the team.
DeAngelo's paired with defenseman Alexander Romanov, and will be a pending UFA at the end of the season.
The look from Mats Zuccarello at the beginning of his post-goal celebration was hilarious.
