"There's two guys I really like:
Andrei Vasilevskiy and Igor Shesterkin," Brodeur said. "To me, these two guys are the top goalies in the League with the way they play, their attitude; they want to play a lot of games. They don't worry about their workload, they're just hockey players. They want to play and that's what I love about them. Markstrom is the same way if you don't tell him he's going to play every game, but these are things that I like about goalies. And these two are pretty good."
Brodeur was discussing the state of modern goaltending in the NHL, with NHL.com's Mike Morreale and highlighted Shesterkin specifically.
Given Shesterkin's tenure in the NHL, you can't help but notice how elite of a goaltender he's been in New York.
Brodeur's one of the NHL legendary goaltenders who has the record for most wins in the league. Brodeur played 1,266 games in the NHL and played 200 more than
Marc-Andre Fleury, the second-winningest in the league.
Shesterkin has only played 216 games in the NHL, with a career record of 137-59-18, 16 shutouts, a 2.42 GAA, and a .921 save percentage.
Shesterkin hasn't had to shoulder the same workload as Brodeur, who played the majority of NHL games during the season during the 2000s.
Instead, NHL clubs have maximized their talent, by using backup goalies, goalie tandems, and even stacking up 3 goalies in one lineup.
But even then, Shesterkin has seamlessly helped the Rangers stay competitive in a tough division.
