The New York Rangers have arguably one of the best goalies in the NHL, since Andrei Vasilevskiy's decline. Shesterkin's ascent began soon after and is set to be one of the highest-paid goalies in the NHL.

He recently refused an $88 Million contract and has been a successful backstop, to one of the best NHL teams, in the New York Rangers.

However, they cannot seem to get the job done, as last season they were bounced out of the playoffs by the Florida Panthers.

His performance has garnered the attention of not only the Rangers faithful, but even the Head Coach one of the original six clubs.

Derek Lalonde of the Detroit Red Wings:

Lalonde paid Shesterkin this huge compliment and it begs the question, is he trying to make it difficult for the Rangers to sign Shesterkin, or is Shesterkin part of the Yzerplan come 2025?

The Red Wings were clipped yesterday by the Rangers, as they lost the game 4-1, with Shesterkin proving yet again how elite he is.

Shesterkin finished the night with 1 GA, 31 saves, and a .969 save percentage against Lalonde.

Of course who couldn't be impressed?

With the Red Wings current duo in net, with Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot, who are decent goalies, but can they lead the Red Wings to the promised land?

Doubtful.

So while the New York Rangers thrashed the Red Wings with ease, it seems the Yzerplan is in the midst of collapse, and mediocrity of which someone like Shesterkin could solve a major issue for the team.

Also, they have players like Justin Holl, and Ben Chiarot it's hard to believe they have a sound defensive core as well.

A backstop like Shesterkin can cover up the woes the Wings have and more.
