It was announced yesterday by the New York Rangers that fan favorite enforcer Matt Rempe has been reassigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League.

It has become clear that head coach Peter Laviolette has been less interested in utilizing Rempe In his lineup as he has only played two games so far this year. Late last season, Rempe emerged from Hartford and took the NHL by storm as he became part of the news cycle with his steady parade of fights with perennial heavyweights in the NHL in his first few weeks.

Many enjoyed his energy and what he brought to the dressing room but with this season he has no points and has only received 5 minutes and 39 seconds of average ice time. Reggie was drafted by the Rangers in the 2020 entry draft in the sixth round.

In my view this move is necessary as Rempe worked on himself by working out with Chris Kreider, improving his fighting skills with former NHL heavyweight Georges Laraque and living with Jonathan quick in Connecticut along with his overall demeanour will bode well for him with the Wolfpack.

He will see his minutes rise dramatically and he will be playing every day which will give him more time to practice and to become a better player.

There is a possibility he may be recalled due to injuries or even improved play but it's safe to say that he will remain with Hartford for the foreseeable future especially if the Rangers continued to win for long stretches.

The Rangers will hit the ice in Madison Square Gardens on October 26th when the Anaheim Ducks come to town. Game time will be at 7:00 PM eastern.
