Quebec regional police arrested a Zamboni driver in Chelsea QC who was under the influence of alcohol and cause damage to the arena where he was working.

MRC des Collines Police arrested a Zamboni driver at a Chelsea, QC rink for allegedly driving the Zamboni under the influence on Oct. 21. Video shared by the police appears to show the ice resurfacing machine crashing into the boards.

A video was released on the X platform showing the driver on a collision course with the boards ahead of him while a referee skated alongside to watch him work. Shortly afterwards a loud bang was heard in the video and several witnesses realised the driver was impaired.

When police arrived, they issued a sobriety test to the driver and then arrested him who will appear in court later.

"In a 30-second video released by local police, the driver of the Zamboni can be seen dressed as a kangaroo with a hood over his head as he begins to resurface the ice. The man, who was driving his large vehicle under the influence of alcohol, was arrested on site by public security officers from the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais.

His driver's license was suspended and he was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date."

Thankfully no one was on ice or around the boards so no one got hurt during the incident.
