It appears that two Western Conference teams have interest in New York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren as the likelihood of him being traded is high.

The Fourth Period reported that the Winnipeg Jets and the Dallas Stars are the teams highly interested in acquiring the shutdown defenseman as he will be a pending unrestricted free agent at the end of this year and unlikely to be re signed by general manager Chris Drury.

Jets looking to add at the trade deadline

ryan lindgren can't defend, doesn't generate any offense, can't pass well and can't cycle the puck well. Why is he on the roster?

This season has gone very well for The Jets and as the team feels they are a contender for the Stanley Cup, it's likely general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff will add to his roster and adding the defensemen like Lindgren will help them.
It's likely he will fit along their second pairing and be a key component to their penalty kill. Standing at six foot 194 lbs, the 26-year-old defender has been a key member of the Rangers since 2018.
Most Rangers fans are complaining about Ryan Lindgren. Saying that Adam Fox needs better partner. And they're right. Lindgren was great defensively until the 2022/23 season. But since? Terrible, unfortunately. Let him walk in the off-season would be a good move in my opinion.

The Dallas Stars on the other hand will be looking to add another blue liner as they have traded had acquired Cody Ceci from the San Jose Sharks. The stars have had a great season as well and more additions will be in the cards as the team also feels that they are a strong contender for the Stanley Cup.

Fans feel it's time the Rangers move on from Lindgren

Lindgren has been a steady player for the Rangers for his entire career and through 47 games this year comma he had scored two goals with 11 assists for 13 and holds 32 penalty minutes with 19 minutes and 46 seconds of average ice time.
The Rangers currently hold $16,000,000 in deadline cap space and if the team managed to trade Lindgren without any retention of salary, it will be another $4.5 million opening for the rangers as the team is likely to retool itself for next year while still trying to compete for a Stanley Cup playoff spot.
Ryan Lindgren needs to be gone before the deadline. He's not going to age well and a long contract should be another team's problem

It's a tall order for the Rangers to try to get back to the playoffs as they currently have 54 points and sit five spots out of the wild card at five points.
The next few weeks even after the Four Nations face off will determine how the Rangers will move forward this season an into next season and with that much cap space available the team can certainly retool itself to be ready for the following year if the playoffs are out of the question.
It's going to be a fascinating ride for the next number of weeks for Rangers fans and the rest of the NHL as it appears there will be many trades to come.
