Earlier on Tuesday morning the worst was confirmed for New York Rangers forward Adam Edstrom after he was forced to exit the game early on Saturday while facing the Boston Bruins.

Following the troubling news, rangers head coach Peter Laviolette spoke out on the incident and how it will affect the Rangers lineup.
During the Rangers game on Saturday, the New York Rangers PR team announced that forward Adam Edstrom will be sidelined for the remainder of the game due to suffering a lower-body injury.
UPDATE: Adam Edstrom (lower body) will not return tonight.
Edstrom exited after second shift of second period, will not return (lower body) per NYR
Based purely off speculation it seems like Edstrom has suffered this injury after being tied up with Boston Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov.
Here's a video of the incident If you missed it:
Definitely a huge loss for the New York Rangers tonight, as Edstrom has been a solid player for the fourth line. Within 50 games played this season with the Rangers Edstrom has managed to tally 5 goals and 4 assists for a total of 9 points while averaging 9:12 of ice time.
Some very unfortunate news as surfaces as it was just confirmed by several Rangers reporters that Adam Edstrom will be sidelined for at least 2.5 months to 3.5 months with a lower-body injury.
#NYR say Adam Edström (lower-body) is going to be out for 2 and a half to 3 and a half months.
Adam Edström is out 2.5-3.5 months with a lower-body injury.

Depending on how his recovery goes, that could be season ending.
However, following the game Peter Laviolette spoke out on the loss of Adam Edstrom along with how it creates an opportunity for someone else to step up.
Here's what Laviolette had to say:
Peter Laviolette on the loss of Edström: «It's, it's his physicality, it's his speed. Take a piece like that out and we're gonna miss it.»

He added it's a good opportunity for someone else to step up. Jimmy Vesey played in Edström's spot against Vegas.
Certainly a major loss for the New York Rangers, but let's hope that doesn't affect them too much as their set to face off against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night.
