The NHL Department of Player Saftey has just confirmed New York Rangers biggest rival's suspension fate following a burtal headshot hit on Buffalo Sabres star forward Tage Thompson.

New Jersey Devils player Stefan Noesen was involved in an ugly play that had many fans believing he would receive further supplemental punishment from the league, like a major suspension or even a fine.
The play occurred Sunday afternoon with 5:11 remaining in the third period near the Devils' blue line. As Noesen threw a nasty headshot on Sabres star Tage Thompson, who was leaning down to play the puck.
Following the play Noesen instantly received a match penalty and was tossed after 13:02 of ice time, which led many to believe he would be facing further punishment.

NHL Department of Player Safety confirms Noesen will not face any further discipline for his nasty hit

Jeff Marek reports that the New Jersey Devils forward will not face any further discipline from the NHL Player Safety for his hit on Thompson, which has completely shocked Sabres fans.
New Jersey Devil Stefan Noesen will not face any supplemental discipline for his hit on Buffalo Sabre Tage Thompson yesterday.
After the game the team's captain Rasmus Dahlin did speak about the situation after the game, and how they failed to respond to that hit, here's what he had to say:
"We have to work on that," Dahlin said. "That cannot happen again."

Even Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff added afterward that Thompson was good and passed all the tests.
»Definitely a hit that you don't like," Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said. "That penalty was well deserved. I know I had a couple of guys that wanted to go after him right away."
Truly not a good look for the NHL Department of Player Safety considering they have been so adamant on taking dirty plays and hits out of today's game. Along with showing real inconsistency consider Matt Rempe receives an 8-game suspension for a boarding call.
