New York Rangers biggest rivals set to face a major suspension following a brutal headshot on Tage Thompson

During a matchup between the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres, Devils forward Stefan Noesen laid a brutal headshot on Sabres star player Tage Thompson. Unfortunately that's not the worst part, following the hit no one on the Sabres reacted.

Hockey is a very fast paced sport and that clearly comes with a lot of risk for unfortunate hits like this one.

However, Noesen received match penalty for this hit, which results in an automatic review from the NHL Department of Player Safety, and it's very likely that Noesen will end up being suspended for this.

Thompson may have had his head down, but that's simply no excuse for hitting someone in the head, especially when they aren't expecting to be hit.

The most mind blowing part about this, is the fact that the Sabres didn't react at all and Noesen walked away without facing any repercussions from the Sabres. Which as resulted in fans to rightfully call out the entire Sabres lineup:

Truly a disgusting play by Noesen. Hopefully the NHL Player Safety will take this seriously and give Noesen a severe suspension, considering Rangers forward Matt Rempe received an 8-game suspension for a boarding/elbowing call earlier this season.
