The New York Rangers have turned the page on their dreadful November and December and have stabilized their situation, but general manager Chris Drury has an important decision to make as Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren is an unrestricted free agent.

New Team Linked to Rangers' Ryan Lindgren

Lindgren is on the final year of his $4.5 million deal and has shown mileage on his body as he has suffered some injuries along the way.

Lindgren will be asked by teams at the NHL trade deadline

There's a strong chance that many NHL teams will be calling Drury on what it will take to acquire Lindgren's services. But he will have a major decision to make as the Rangers have begun surging in the standings enter now nipping at the wild card spots in the Eastern Conference.
Top-four defenseman, like Lindgren, fetch a nice return if traded around the deadline. When the Rangers were stumbling along before the New Year, it appeared Lindgren was a prime candidate to be moved before March 7. - Jim Cerny Forever Blueshirts

It's likely the offer that would be sent to Drury would have to blow the doors off of Madison Square Garden in order to sell Lindgren as the team would like to keep him down the stretch and help them get back into the playoffs.

Rangers playing far better than in first of the season

The Rangers are currently packed in with several teams including the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators and the Columbus Blue Jackets all trying to get into the playoffs.
Rumors have linked Lindegren to the Detroit Red Wings but with the race tightening and teams not fading from playoff contention, it's unlikely this deal will transpire.
Ryan Lindgren was a warrior. He was fantastic at his peak. The Rangers would not have enjoyed as much success as they did without him. Notice the use of past tense in that sentence, though. I will appreciate Ryan Lindgren when he's gone. But there's no future with him.

Through 48 games, the Rangers now are 24-20-4 for 52 points and are now a + 2 goal differential compared to what they were in November and December where they were well below -20.
The improved play of the team overall and Igor Shesterkin is credited for the turn around and it will be a fascinating fight till the end.
In the meantime, the Rangers will continue to build off of their momentum and potentially find themselves back in the playoffs again.
