The NHL releases an unexpected development regarding the Rangers and superstar Artemi Panarin

The New York Rangers have released the selection for their Quarter Century team today. The team consists of some players you expect, such as Henrik Lundqvist, and Artemi Panarin.

The New York Rangers Quarter Century team was released on "X" today, former and current Rangers players both made the roster.

Of those who made the cut were players like Ryan McDonagh, Adam Fox, Mika Zibanejad, and Henrik Lundqvist are notable.

The second team has a few older faces, including forwards Jaromir Jagr, Derek Stepan and Mats Zuccarello. Defenseman Dan Girardi and Marc Staal are listed alongside current Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin.

Artemi Panarin could be the latest Rangers superstar who has earned the nod and has been a part of the Rangers since the beginning of their rebuild in 2019.

First Team

Artemi Panarin

Since Panarin has been a Rangers, he's scored a total of 500 points, in 384 games played with the team. He's also been a weapon for the Blueshirts in the playoffs as he's scored 35 points in 46 playoff games.

Chris Kreider is one of the longest-tenured Rangers players on the list, serving the Blueshirts since the 2012 playoffs. He's scored 548 points in 847 games and leads the team in playoff games played (123), and goals (48).

Mika ZIbanejad & Adam Fox

Adam Fox has been the top blue liner in New York and has been a staple in the lineup for six years now. He's scored 348 points in 406 games wearing a Rangers uniform and won the Norris Trophy in 2021.

Zibanejad has been one of the Rangers' best players, after arriving in New York via Ottawa. He's found himself at home on the special teams and has been a reliable offensive weapon during his tenure here.

Igor Shesterkin

The New York Rangers lucked out going from Henrik Lundqvist in net, to Igor Shesterkin. During his short career in the NHL so far, he's won a Vezina Trophy in 2021-2022 and is the highest-paid goalie in the NHL with a salary of $11.5 million AAV.

Henrik Lundqvist

Henrik Lundqvist is a legend in New York and entered the NHL during the 2005-2006 season. He'd be known as one of the best netminders in the league and would become the best European-born goalie, with 459 wins during his career.

The New York Rangers have a great past, and a bright future with players on the roster now.
