Jimmy Vesey's future with the New York Rangers was just confirmed following latest report
Peter Laviolette confirmed Jimmy Vesey's fate today with the Rangers, as The Athletic's Peter Baugh interviewed him. We shouldn't expect the forward back in the lineup anytime soon.
The New York Rangers are running a new-look fourth line that includes Matt Rempe, Adam Edstrom, and Sam Carrick.
The line has been building chemistry, and been trouble for the Rangers' opponents lately. This has blocked the path for Jimmy Vesey from returning to the team's lineup.
The Athletic's Peter Baugh asked Head Coach Peter Laviolette if he plans on giving Vesey a shot back in the lineup after eight healthy scratches recently.
It appears we won't see him back in the lineup anytime soon.
While Laviolette expressed confidence in Vesey's abilities, it sounds like he'd rather stick with what has been working.
The lineup featuring the Twin Towers has been a coup for Laviolette, as Matt Rempe has found his stride in the NHL.
he 31-year-old Vesey has four points, 24 shots on net and 14 hits over 26 appearances this season. Head coach Peter Laviolette doesn't look to have interest in messing with the lineup while the Rangers are winning, so Vesey may have to wait until an injury pops up to draw back in, though Jonny Brodzinski is also in the mix to fill a bottom-six role. Like other Rangers' players at the start of the season, Vesey has proven to be a disappointment in the lineup.
Last year he was a big contributor to the team's President's Trophy-winning campaign and scored 26 points in 2023-2024.
This year, we've seen a dip in production for the forward and no viable path back into the lineup as he has remained a healthy scratch in 2025.
Could he be trade bait for the Rangers come March?
