The fallout is still being felt from the trade yesterday which sent Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken. He was quickly traded after voicing his displeasure with his lack of utilization in the lineup. GM Chris Drury traded him for Will Borgen.

The move was met with mixed emotions by Rangers fans, as some felt he wasn't worth the 1st round pick in 2019. Others felt like he hadn't been developed correctly in New York, and maybe he'll find a better shot in Seattle.

If you know, opinions are subjective, but Kakko started to show what he was made of after his 40-point season in 2022-2023. But would falter last season under Peter Laviolette.

He'd be placed on the 3rd line with Filip Chytil, and Will Cuylle and be one of the team's best lines. A verifiable two-way checking line, and effective at controlling the ice.

Now after speaking out against his healthy scratch against the St. Louis Blues, GM Chris Drury exercised the trade option with speed, not seen in quite some time.

So how did Kakko feel about being traded by the Rangers?

It seems to be that he's taking it in stride, as he felt he needed a fresh start, which he will receive in Seattle under Head Coach Dan Bylsma, and Assistant Jessica Campbell.

While nothing is perfect, he acknowledged the shortcomings he experienced in New York and is ready to move on and focus on his game in Seattle.

Despite being shot to the West Coast with speed by GM Chris Drury he took positives from the time he spent with the team who drafted him.

Kakko, selected by the Rangers with the No. 2 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, will make his Kraken debut against the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center on Thursday (8:30 p.m. ET; CHSN+, KHN, KONG). «I hope I'm going to get a chance over here,» Kakko said after Seattle's morning skate Thursday

Kaako will wear #84 for the Kraken and will debut tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks in the United Center.

He'll debut on the first line with Matty Beniers, and Jared McCann.

This season he's scored 14 points( 4 G, 10 A) in 30 games with the Rangers.
