The Rangers have their starting goalie for the next year at the least (most likely he re-signs); Igor Shesterkin. But, the backup role is in jeopardy as Jonathan Quick may be retiring after next season, as he's 38 years old.
Well, you can scratch one name off the list for the future backup role, as goalie prospect Olof Lindbom has signed with the Lahden Pelicans of the Finnish Liiga in Finland.
Lindbom was selected in the 2nd round of the 2018 draft. It just never worked out between the two sides and Lindbom never found his stride with New York.
Olof spent most of his time over both entry-level contracts playing in the ECHL, as he wasn't able to secure a spot with the Hartford Wolfpack (AHL).
The 23-year-old still has a lot of hockey ahead of him.
