New York Rangers pay heartbreaking tribute to the Gaudreau brothers during first home opener
The New York Rangers have made a heartbreaking tribute to Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, before their first home preseason game.
Tuesday night, the New York Rangers are facing off against the New York Islanders during their second preseason game but their first home game.
Just moments before puck drop the New York Rangers payed a tribute to both Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau who lost their lives about a month ago.
The Rangers honoured the Gaudreau brothers with a moment of silence while projecting their image on the jumbotron.
Johnny Gaudreau 31, and Matthew Gaudreau 29, were both killed by a drunk driver on August 29th
The Gaudreau brothers were biking back from their sister's wedding rehearsal, when a drunk driver tried to over take multiple vehicles, and struck both Matthew and Johnny, killing them both.
The brother's younger sister, Katie was suppose to be getting married on August 30th, and had planned for both her brothers to be a part of the wedding. The two were going to be ring carriers for Katie.
Katie, then obviously cancelled her wedding after hearing about the tragic news of her brothers, and will now forever remember a day that was suppose to be filled with love will be haunted by such a tragic incident.
Katie did go and have the initials M and J engraved in her wedding ring so that both Matthew and Johnny are always with her.
May the Gaudreau brothers, Johnny and Matthew Rest in Peace.
