New York Rangers prospect signs new deal in NCAA
Western Michigan University has announced yesterday that New York Rangers prospect Ty Hendricks as agreed to play for their team in the NCAA.
The 19-year-old left winger who stands at six foot 4 and 216 lbs was selected by the Rangers in the 2023 entry draft, sixth round, 183rd overall. According to eliteprospects.com he is recognized as a danger on the ice and had zero issues using his physicality and his stickwork to be a good player.
Last season he played for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL and during that season, he played 60 games, scored seventeen goals with 15 assists for 32 points and had 22 penalty minutes with a + 5.
General manager Chris Drury has felt to add some size to his draft picks as many teams across the NHL appeared to be doing the same especially on their defence core and their wingers. Today's NHL is played with an element of heavy forechecking and physicality along the boards.
A player of Hendricks size will certainly make WMU along with the Rangers potentially even more dangerous.
