On Saturday morning the New York Rangers announced that the team has recalled winger Jake Leschyshyn from the Wild Pack.
The 25-year old forward was claimed off waivers from the New York Rangers early in 2023, and only managed to play one game for the Rangers last season, as he spent the rest of year with the Hartford Wolf Pack where he tallied 8 goals and 11 assists in 47 games.
So far this season Leschyshyn played five games this season and managed to collect three points so far. However, throughout his career he only played 77 NHL games, where he put up two goals and four assists in 10:15 per game.
Leschyshyn actually cost less than the league minimum with a cap hit of just $766.7k, which will greatly help the Rangers as they look to stay out of Long-Term Injury Reserve(LTIR) and continue to accrue cap space.
Along with all that, this is Leschyshyn's final year of his contract and will need to make at least three NHL appearances to be eligible for restricted free agency this summer, and if that doesn't happen he will hit the open market as a unrestricted free agent.
