New York Rangers set to acquire solid depth forward for free according to latest development
The New York Rangers have the perfect opportunity to claim a 40+ point and depth forward of waivers from the Seattle Kraken for free.
The New York Rangers have just recently been hit with several unfortunate injury's on their offensive side with veteran Chris Kreider and Filip Chytil being sidelined with upper-body injury's.
On Wednesday afternoon NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed the Seattle Kraken have placed Daniel Sprong on waivers, giving the Rangers a perfect opportunity to acquire him for free.
Back In 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 had had consecutive 40+ point seasons in Seattle and Detroit. But as yet to still secure a full-time roster spot.
Sprong signed a one-year contract in Vancouver with an AAV of $975k, but then was traded back to Seattle for future considerations back on Nov. 8th.
The Rangers and GM Chris Drury are currently searching to add more depth to their roster, and Sprong just may the guy that can help.
Sprong's NHL career, which is now in its eighth season and fifth team, has featured 83 career goals in 328 games. He's averaged 2.15 shots on goal per game for his career, despite effectively playing fourth-line minutes his entire career.
This season Sprong has played 19 games, and scored 5 points( 2 G, 3 A), and he hasn't played to the potential we've seen him the last two seasons of his career, but a change of scenery for the 27-year old may do him so good.
