New York City hockey fans always enjoyed the rivalry between the Rangers and the Islanders.
There's always a sense of fierce competition between the two teams and extra incentive from the players to face off against one another.
That was the case tonight when Islanders Mathew Barzal chose to go up against Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin in the one-on-one competition.
Barzal had a minute to try to put as many pucks as possible past Shesterkin and each puck had value including many at the blue line worth 2 points each.
He started off slow but managed to get a few points as the minute progressed and at the grand finale barzal tried to go backhand with Igor stacking his pads, but Barzal hit the post which ended the competition.
There was another connection in that skill comp where former Rangers starting goalie Alexandar Georgiev ended up taking the one-on-one challenge over Shesterkin with 9 saves and netted himself a cool $100,000.
The NHL All Star game is next on the docket and will begin at 3:00 PM eastern tomorrow February 3rd.
