The New York Rangers suffered their first regulation loss to the reigning Stanley Cup champions the Florida Panthers 3-1 to which head coach Peter Laviolette did not like the game whatsoever.

During his postgame press conference, Laviolette summed up the game straightforward that tonight's game was not their night, and the team did not play well at all on all fronts.

#NYR head coach Peter Laviolette: "I didn't like the whole night. I didn't like any of it. Everything tonight goes into a bag where it wasn't good enough. You can talk about the 5v5 play, you can talk about the defense, the offense, the power play, the penalty kill. I wouldn't say that that's who we've shown to be so far in the season, but that's what happened tonight."

The team has been riding a wave of good fortune as through the first five games of the season they went 4-0-1. But it was clear last night's effort did not go their way. It was an overall quiet night for the Rangers stars as Chris Kreider, Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad all came up empty on the score sheet and even shots on goal.

It was also supposed to be a duel between two of the best goaltenders in the NHL with Igor Shesterkin facing off against Sergei Bobrovsky. Bob came out ahead as he stopped 24 of 25 shots. The big take away with the Rangers is that the power play failed to register a goal and the power play would have been critical it could have tied up the game or even taking the lead.

This loss will certainly give Laviolette and his coaching staff more to work on as the wind and the team sales has been reduced slightly. Has the team could redeem itself for a bounce back game as they face off against the Anaheim Ducks.

The game will take place on October 26th and game time will be at Madison Square gardens at 7:00 PM eastern.
