Peter Laviolette reveals he's uncertain if Matt Rempe will make opening night roster
Matt Rempe has worked during the offseason to improve his game and his fighting abilities. He is striving to become an impact player on the ice.
While Rempe's popularity is growing, he is looking to back up his words with his play. An honorable goal, along with the fact he's a dedicated player.
Head Coach Laviolette's been impressed by Rempe's determination to improve his game.
"His evaluation is probably honest and fair that he's got to continue to work at all aspects of his game, as a lot of young players do," Laviolette said, via NHL.com. "He was a guy that came up and he made so much noise. You say, what is it that he has to do [to make the opening night roster]? Well, there's a lot of things."
According to Laviolette, he needs to keep improving to make the new and improved Rangers roster.
This means he'll need to earn Laviolette's trust, after being a scratch during the NHL playoffs.
The enforcer has his fighting skills down but will need to improve his two-way play to stay on a deep Rangers lineup.
If he plans on remaining a Ranger, instead of being sent down to the AHL he's got a mandate to improve his offensive and defensive skills.
