New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette addresses the media and explains what went wrong for the Rangers during the second period of todays game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The New York Rangers faced off against the Carolina Hurricanes Sunday afternoon at 12:30, and unfortunately took another loss after taking an very early lead, thanks to veteran Jimmy Vesey who scored within just 17 seconds of the first period.

The Rangers showed their dominance throughout the first period and kept the Hurricanes at bay, but it didn't last long as the Canes pushed back in the second period, ultimately controlling the remainder of the game as they got 2 goals in the second and 1 in the third.

As the game came to an end the Rangers were outshot 31 to 23, which lead to Peter Laviolette expressing his disappointment with the Rangers, here's what he had to say:

"We didn't get the puck to the next level in the second period. I thought the battles went their way."

Peter Laviolette talks about what went wrong for the Rangers after the first period:

He's definitely not wrong as several Rangers players also pointed out the same issue, when they were faced with the media:

Braden Schneider on the #NYR drop-off from 1st to 2nd period:

«We just weren't able to execute the plan that we wanted to in the second. They're a team that they come in waves. You got to expect that. We weren't able to break that up and get back to our game. I thought they kept kind of going downhill when we needed to get a stop in our end or just keep playing simple in their end. I think that was the thing is they brought their push and we weren't able to respond with anything back.»

"I think we got the start we wanted, but got to keep going like that for the whole game."

Adam Fox assesses the Rangers' performance today:

Unfortunately thing just can't seem to get better for the Rangers this season as they are currently now sitting with a record of 16-16-1, but will have a chance tomorrow to hopefully add another victory as the face tge NJ Devils at 1PM.
